Depression, stress, exhaustion, depletion. These are
words that I hear in my practice every day. We live
in an environment that is increasingly full of physical
and emotional toxins. You may feel overwhelmed and fatigued,
or just generally out of sorts. But acupuncture can
help you feel better.
Your body simply cannot function at an optimal level if your mind is not clear, calm, and present. When you are under a great deal of stress, for instance, your body undergoes a series of physical changes. Your heart rate increases, as does your breathing rate and muscle tension. If stress is chronic, these responses can induce long-term health problems, such as heart disease, strokes, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome. Similarly, ongoing depression—be it mild, moderate, or severe—can have an equally profound impact on your physical health.
People use all sorts of coping mechanisms—few of which are healthy—to deal with stress and depression. Cigarettes, alcohol, and comfort-eating may provide a quick fix, but do profound long-term harm to the state of both the body and the mind. Anti-anxiety medications and anti-depressants can help people in the immediate sense, but are not always the best long-term solutions.
Acupuncture combats depression and stress naturally. A calm mind is a great relief if you suffer from stress and anxiety—and acupuncture has been shown to calm the mind and relieve tension. It also has an energizing, revitalizing effect—a great support if you are suffering from depression or fatigue. In addition to generating feelings of well-being and vitality, acupuncture can lift your spirits, and help you see new opportunities for growth and development.
Acupuncture just makes people feel better. It can help you, too.
